2017 911 Carrera

2017 Porsche 911 Carrera

We would like to formally introduce you to the best 911 yet. As if the 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera’s rejuvenated exterior and interior design wasn’t enough, this vehicle’s new engine and driving dynamics are what will really leave you awestruck.

The new engine, for both the Carrera and the Carrera S, is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six work of mechanical mastery. In the 911 Carrera, the twin-turbo flat-six engine produces 370 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. The Carrera S with its different compressor wheels, special exhaust set up and specific ECU tune generates 420 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. Both models’ twin-turbocharged flat-six engines have charge-air cooling.

The new 911 Carrera delivers higher performance with significantly more torque, high revving response and less consumption. Both models are said to be 12 percent more fuel (still awaiting final EPA fuel-economy estimates). Both models also deliver 20 horsepower more than their non-turbocharged predecessors. For the first time Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the electronically controlled adjustable damper system, comes standard on all models. The new rear axle steering provides the 911 with improved driving stability and agility. The available Sport Chrono package brings with it an even sportier tuning of the chassis, engine and transmission as well as a new mode switch on the steering wheel derived from the 918 Spyder.

The exterior has a new front and rear design. The front offers a reimagined shape for a sportier appearance while the back has a more defined contour allowing the rear end to look wider, more substantial and imposing. The 4-point LED daytime running lights and the three-dimensional tail lights with LED technology are striking as well.

The interior of the 911 Carrera has one goal in mind—putting the driver first. The new sports steering wheel and the ascending center console are complimented by suspension settings and the two-zone air conditioning system. In addition to the choice of Agate Grey, Black and Luxor Beige leather or Alcantara, there are a wide range of other personalization options available for the interior as well.

Porsche has stepped up its technology game with the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) which includes an online navigation module plus a 7-inch multi-touchscreen. The Connect Plus module allows the PCM to serve as a gateway to the digital world. The instrument cluster has a 4.6-inch color screen that provides a continuous stream of data from the onboard computer such as trip mileage, journey time and average fuel consumption. The navigation system displays real-time traffic information, delivers warnings and displays chosen communication and audio settings.
